Frustrated - Please Help!

Like many of you, I'm feeling really frustrated with my classroom management these days. I feel that I have lost control, the kids don't care, and I spend all of my days being negative. I hate that!! I am naturally an upbeat, happy person, but I feel that this class is bringing me down! My normal go-to positive bribe reward isn't going to work this year, so I need some ideas and quick! I've tried Class Dojo and other systems, but I need something new. Please link up your blog posts or TpT items dealing with positive behavior management tips and rewards. I'm desperate!

  2. This is my least favorite time of the year. My babies go CRAZY! They treat each other like brothers and sisters, so you hear constant tattling/bugging and they are no longer afraid of their big bad teacher. :) Not that they ever were, haha, but the newness has completely worn off and we have become this dysfunctional little family. But, I feel like this happens every year around this time. I can't wait to see what ideas get linked up!!!!

  3. I don't have a blog post about it, but I used an effective system two years ago. It was based on the Harry Potter series. My kids sat in groups with their desk pushed together to form a "table". Each table was a Gryffindor House and they had a decorated jar for House Points(marbles) that they earned individually or collectively for their table. I rewarded the table with the highest house points at the end of each day. The reward was always candy, because that's what they loved. There was also a chance to pick from the prize box at the end of the week for the most cumulative points from the week. Good luck with whatever you choose to do, Stacy @http://new-in-room-202.blogspot.com

  4. I know exactly how you feel and what you mean. I have a tally system for class behavior as a whole, but when individuals need a little extra motivation or if the class loses their tallies, but "the good kids" lose out, I LOVE giving away these reward coupons. It may not seem like much, but the kids who get them LOVE them. The other students really perk up to try to get one right away. My students REALLY love the "Music in your seat" card because they can listen to my Ipod with headphones while (and only if) they work. They also love the "get the teacher's chair" card because it is big and comfy! It's just little things that make the direction followers stand out and the other students want to achieve that status. Hope this helps. Hang in there! :)

  5. I hope it's OK that I linked up with two posts, but they've really helped me out this year. We have Spring Break in 3 weeks, so hopefully that will help some of these ants out of their pants!!

  6. I couldn't agree more! My kids are bonkers lately, which has been unfortunate because all of our spring testing is this month!! I use class dojo to keep them in check as well as hold PE class over their heads...gotta do something right?

    Hang in there!
