Five for Friday - Oct. 4

My donated WalkKits came this week! That means I get to start implementing {The Walking Classroom} soon! If you have not heard of The Walking Classroom, I first read about it last May over at {Teaching in Room 6}.  They are essentially MP3 players that are preprogrammed with 5th grade Common Core lessons. The idea is that kids walk during each episode that lasts 10-15 minutes, combining activity with learning! You can flat-out buy them, but at $100 each, that was out of my budget. (Wait, do I even get a budget?!) So I jumped on the waiting list in May, and I was notified a week or so ago that I was chosen to receive a set of 26! Stay tuned to read about our sure-to-be amazing experiences with this!

I was thrilled on Wednesday to find that one of my favorite (non-teacher and not always suitable for work) blog writers had posted again after a long absence. If you have not checked out {Hyperbole and a Half} (and have a somewhat twisted sense of humor), you totally should. Check out the "Best of" on the sidebar. My absolute favorite is {A Better Pain Scale}. I snort-laugh EVERY TIME I read it, especially #7. I'm getting tears in my eyes just thinking about it...

Somewhere along the way I lost my voice. Which will be awesome when I have to...

This weekend I get to participate in the University of Iowa's Homecoming festivities! I was a member of the marching band for five *ahem* years and made some wonderful memories and long-lasting friendships (and marriage)! The highlight is getting to march once again in front of 70,000 fans on game day. We will report early in the morning to practice the pregame drill and music (which has pretty much been embedded in my brain). Then we will be marching pregame, which is still a pretty big thrill :) This is the point in the year where I remember that I forgot to take my instrument in for repairs and I forgot to lose that extra twenty pounds that would make marching easier ;)

This weekend I am celebrating my 1,000 TpT follower milestone. My entire store will be 20% off this weekend, and I am hosting a Rafflecopter for a $20 TpT gift certificate. Ten runners-up will have their choice of one item from my store.

  11. Thank you SO MUCH for posting about Hyperbole and a Half. I have spent entirely too much time this weekend reading old posts there and laughing at them. The illustrations are quite possibly my favorite part. I'm glad you shared that little gem of comic relief! :)

  13. Congrats on your achievement! I am a Hawkeye, too. I love visiting Iowa City in the summer and pointing out all my favorite spots to my husband. We went to a jazz concert on the Old Capitol grounds this summer...so much fun!
