When thinking about what I wanted to share today, I kept coming back to how I handle copying, grading, and entering grades. I touched upon it a little bit in the {original organization post}, but I wanted to give more details.
So I have three baskets. I've seen a bunch of Sterilite drawers floating around the blogosphere that have similar drawers. I prefer baskets, though. I want to be able to see what's in there. Otherwise, it's out of sight, out of mind. I also have an associate who does a lot of my copying and checking, so I want to make sure that everything's visible to her as well. When the papers are checked, they are put in the bottom basket so I can enter them the next time I open my grading program. I don't have a gradebook, so I keep the cover slips for reference or disputes.
That's it!
I like the baskets too! The plastic drawers are pretty, but if it gets in a drawer I forget it is there too!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree that the drawers would not work for me. Open storage all the way. I have some pretty letter trays that I can re-purpose; thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this!!

I keep the papers I need to grade in a paper basket, too. I love the plastic drawers for keeping my resources in them, but I would probably forget about papers needing to be graded if they weren't visible. I like the idea of having one for copies, too. Thanks for sharing.

Oh man I wish I had someone to do my copying (and cutting, and laminating, and hanging hahaha) for me!

I was wondering if the drawers would be an issue. Thanks for confirming my hunch on this.

Thanks Diane!! You are extremely organized...I love how you planned out each step of the paperwork :)
ReplyDeleteI use a system similar to this for papers that need to be graded and also a separate basket for grades that need to be entered into my gradebook online. I have an aid who does a lot of my copying so I keep anything that needs to be copied in a polka dot file folder. She knows if the folder is out on my desk that is what I need done first, so I don't have to stop class to discuss it with her!

I love the idea of the cover slip. I started doing that last year, but wasn't very diligent about it. I love the idea of keeping them...that way if technology ever crashes (which it never does..haha) my grades aren't lost forever. Thanks for sharing :)

I love these! How did you get the basket on "stilts"? Did you make them or did the basket come with them?
ReplyDeleteYou are a no-reply blogger, so I hope that you check back here! They actually came with the basket but I've noticed that you can buy them separately at office supply stores. I've seen them recently somewhere else (Target?), but I can't remember where.
